Monday

Well, today wasn't as bad as I had thought it was going to be. I started my Monday by going to the dentist. I don't usually mind going, especially since my dentist is also a client of ours. He did tell me I have to get a crown put on where I recently had my root canal. Somehow, I'm just not looking forward to this. It requires 3 visits, none of which seem like they're going to be enjoyable. Plus it's going to cost a pretty penny to get it done. Thank God for Dental Credit Cards. It's designed specifically for things like this. If you have it paid off within a year they don't charge you any interest. That's always a positive!

Not much happening otherwise. Apparently my kiddo finally pooped after not having been since last Thursday. He actually hasn't been too cranky either, considering it's been a little over 3 days. He did take a good nap, which always seems to help him a little.

It is, of course, Monday...which means lots of tv on tonight. A lot of people love Wednesday night tv. I don't think there's anything on Wednesday nights that interests me. But Monday has DWTS, House, 24 and One Tree Hill. Glen also tapes Chuck. He likes that show.

I guess that's all for now...30 minutes and counting until time to go home. Let's hope Carson stays happy and wants something other than pb&j for dinner!!

Friday Nights

Ok, so it's 6:30 on a Friday night and what am i doing? I'm in my pj's with my kiddo and we're watching Wheel of Fortune. Yup, that's me...life of the party. Carson and I are quite content to be doing absolutely nothing and watching Pat and Vanna or Pa and Nanna as Carson calls them. This is actually our nightly ritual. We are fed, bathed and in pj's no later than 6:30. With Glen working nights we don't go out a lot. There's the occasional dinner out with the in-laws. But that doesn't happen too often either.

Today I had the day off work. I had several things I was going to get done today because I actually have lots of plans this weekend. Much to my surprise I actually got almost everything done that I was hoping to, with the exception of making cookies for my mom's birthday. I bought eggs at the grocery store, only to get home and realize I didn't have them in my bag. I really wasn't too upset since I figured I can make the cookies tomorrow morning before my girl's day out.

Back to Friday nights...normally we have a line up of tv shows that we watch after Wheel, but with March Madness taking place those shows don't exist for a few weeks. So tonight, I'm sure I will give into my son's cries for Mickey Mouse and since my computer is fixed I will pop in a DVD of the OC. What time will we be in bed? Yup, that's right...9:00 at the latest. I have lost my ability to stay up later than 9 for the most part. There are the few Saturday nights when we'll have friends over playing cards until 10 or 11. Carson even stays up until they leave. You can bet your booty we're tired the next day. Just because we stay up late doesn't mean we sleep in. Heck no. We're up at the same freakin time every morning. Ah well...such is the life of a parent!!

Quiet Work.....

It's almost 2:30 and it has been pure quiet all day. Normally that's what you hope for on a Monday, but this is almost too quiet. I'm pretty much caught up on everything. That's usually what happens when Dan leaves for an extended period of time. Sure, the phone has rang several times but nothing major. Mostly wholesalers trying to schedule appointments with Dan and Mark. Neither of whom would meet with these particular people. Anyways, now I'm debating whether or not to start cleaning out files and getting us compliant approved again. The problem? I'd much rather be blogging or playing on Facebook than cleaning files and making sure I've completed appropriate paperwork for mutual funds and checks received. Who wouldn't have this problem though? It's 70 degrees and almost sunny outside. I do have the windows opened so I'm getting a little of the fresh air.

Once I get home, I'll definitely be taking Carson outside to play for a while. My lovely husband is fixing a crock pot dinner of chicken, rice, carrots and peas for us. After that, it's a full night of bathing Carson and lots of t.v. Monday is our busiest t.v. night for sure. Dancing with the Stars, House, 24, and One Tree Hill. And who can forget Wheel of Fortune? That's Carson's favorite show next to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He loves Pat and Vanna!!

March Madness

And so it begins...March Madness. I could care less about basketball until March Madness hits. Then it's all about how well can I keep up in the brackets with my lack of bball knowledge. Normally we compete for money. My friend Adam gets a bunch of people from his work and Glen gets people from his work. Then Glen and Adam spend lots of time watching the games (as much as they can anyways) and grade the brackets. I'm generally out of the game pretty quick. I try though, cuz there's always money involved.

With Adam now only working every other week, there will be no brackets from his or Glen's work. Instead, it's the Brown's versus the McCutchan's. And the prize...the loser buys the winner dinner at Taco John's. Now to me, this is awesome! Although Suzanne and I have pretty much agreed this is between Glen and Adam, I'm hoping to get a free dinner out of it. I stand a much better chance with there only being 4 of us compared to 40. I was also a little more careful in my selections this year. I went with generally higher seeded teams, although that has proven to not always be the better choice either.

Sadly I will be working during most of the games, but have found that Facebook has a link with CBS sports where you can watch the games live on your computer. Guess what I'll be watching come 11:20?!!!

Crazy

Ok, I think I've officially lost my mind! I thought today was Monday all over again. Is that even possible...to repeat a day? I did buy myself a pie this morning just in case today was as crazy as yesterday. And of course, it was! Paperwork, client calls and my boss. Throw those three things together and you're asking for nothing but craziness and chaos. I guess the good thing for now is that my boss is heading out of town tomorrow and won't be back for over a week. But he is going to be adding to my paperwork collection tonight I'm sure. My paperwork collection...yup that's right! It's piling up on my desk like I'm collecting it. Not because I'm procrastinating on it, but because other things keep happening and I'm not able to get to it. My hope and goal is that tomorrow is a quiet day. It will be Wednesday after all. I'll be in jeans and a sweater and hoping for some of that "hump day" peace. Any chance of clients not calling or stopping by? Here's hoping....

11 already?

I'm sitting here at work (my laptop is in to be fixed) and I can't believe it's already 11:00!! Where the heck has the day gone? Dan's out of town, so I've been thinking this time should go by slowly with not a lot to do...WRONG!!! I've had several client phone calls, tons of paperwork and clients even stopping by. And now it seems it's almost time for lunch. I still have lots of paperwork to do and I have to go downtown to the assessor's office to have more paperwork signed. I also have the great debate going on as to what am I going to do for lunch today? My head is telling me to eat something from home so I don't get in trouble, but my stomach is telling me Buffalo Wild Wings. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to go with my stomach just because it sounds good! Guess I better quit writing and get some more work done. Otherwise it'll be 4:00 before I know it:)

My first blog!

Well, this is my first blog and I'm not even sure what to write about. I guess I could start about writing about myself. I titled my blog "A working mom's blog" because that's what I am. I am a working mom. I am 31 and married to a wonderful man. We have a 2 year old son, Carson. We also have a 4 yr. old dog, Brooklyn. Anyone with a 2 yr. old knows that the 2 yr. old takes up all of your time! I go to work, come home and take care of him and start all over the next day. Even on the rare occasion that he goes to Nana and Papaw's house, I'm still thinking of him. People ask if we want more, and we both say no. Carson is handful enough for now. I have friends with more than one and often wonder how they do it without going competely crazy?! It's all I can do to not lose my mind somedays with only one.

For not knowing what to say, it seems as though I had plenty to say. Maybe this blogging thing won't be as hard as I thought. Now it's just finding the time to do it!
